Q: Why print your images?

Here at EG+B we believe that you should display your images as a reminder to yourself that you are beautiful, wonderful and are right to be proud of who you are. As a photographer who has shot both film and digital, there’s no denying how far photography has come, but beware the rapidly, ever changing landscape of electronic capture. If you choose to keep precious memories on your computer or your phone you risk losing them forever!

Do you remember going to your grand mothers place and pulling the old luggage case out from under the bed, opening it to a scattered pile of aging brownish yellow photos of people you’ve never seen or heard of and then asking gran who they are and being transported back to a time long gone? I believe there will be generations of images lost to technology’s advances…I’ll bet you’ve lost some special memories already. Trust me when I tell you that this is something generations of people will miss out on. As the digital age marches on, devices get more fantastic, but the information captured may well become obsolete in a very short time and be lost forever. Not to mention if you lose or damage a device or have a HDD crash, or they simply update it and it won’t read your old files anymore!

I’ve had this happen and it’s pretty bloody annoying…In recent years I upgraded a camera due to my previous one being uneconomical to repair…I bought the same brand and it captured files with the same file type as the previous one, but the software I use wouldn’t read the files and so I had to upgrade it! Cha ching, please send money or you won’t be able to use your new equipment. Grrrr!

Also, there are memory cards that aren’t compatible across cameras because of a slight internal change, Phones get lost, damaged or need updating and ‘poof’ suddenly all your images/memories are lost!
